  • Bus Routes
Schools have no control over bus routes or conveyancing. Students who live further than 3.2km from the school and who live inside the Transport Entitlement Zone (TEZ) may get a bus to school providing there is a route close by. Sometimes parents may need to take children to the nearest route to catch the bus. Students who choose Tapanui School but live outside the TEZ must get permission from the closest school before transport can take place. Go Bus usually charge students who travel from outside the TEZ. For matters centred around operations, routes or student behaviour on buses, contact the Principal. If you want to discuss transport arrangements or get further information about a conveyancing allowance contact the MOE. You can contact the MOE Otago Southland Regional Transport Advisor on email: st.southern@education.govt.nz. If your child is required to take medication while at school and you require our staff to administer it, please complete this form.
  • eLearning / BYOD
We employ a blended approach to learning so ICT is a vital tool and is integrated in all teaching and learning programmes. The school provides iPads and Chromebooks for classroom use and we use Google Apps for Education. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) BYOD is optional for Year 4-6 students. The preferred device is a Chromebook. No support will be provided for other devices. If you have a device, please complete the BYOD form.
  • School Closures
When weather is hazardous (ice / snow) in the morning, please listen to Hokonui Gold Radio for school cancellations / late starts or late bus run notices. A text alert will also be sent to all caregivers we hold cell phone numbers for. If snowing in the morning, exercise your discretion about sending your child to school especially if getting them home could be a problem. Please ring in during the day if snow conditions in your area are of concern. If you are to be away from home on a suspected snow day please have an alternative arrangement with a neighbour / friend which your child knows about, and send a note or ring the school with these arrangements. If conditions deteriorate during the day, again please listen to the radio. All bus children parents will be rung before buses can leave. If parents cannot be reached (and we have not been informed of an alternative arrangement) those children will be kept at school. Town parents will be asked (via radio) to collect their children. Town families are only rung after buses are away.
