About Tapanui School

Tapanui School welcomes new families to the West Otago Community.

Tapanui School is a learning community where 'Together we Learn and Grow’. Learning is our core business! We are committed and determined to enable learning to happen by serving every one of our learners.
Our School is forward thinking in its philosophy, purposeful in selecting the right staff and committed to helping our students with the competencies they need to succeed. Our vision captures the learner qualities of being confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners.

We are a well resourced contributing school catering for a roll of around 80 students from Year 1 - 6. Tapanui School has a positive, caring culture with students and staff working co-operatively and respectfully using modern learning pedagogy.

Our School Song - Kō Matau tells about our values and our sense of togetherness:

Kō Matau, te roopu,  E tu atu nei.

E karanga kia koutou,  Haere mai ra

Mauria mai tō aroha,  Kia piri tonu mai

Kō Tapanui te kura E tu atu nei.

Our school is well positioned in the township of Tapanui, West Otago with the Play Centre, Kidzway Early Learning Centre and Blue Mountain College situated alongside. We are nestled at the base of the Blue Mountains and have an idyllic view of the surrounding countryside from our school grounds. Tapanui is a member of the Pomahaka Kāhui Ako.
