The Ministry's review in 2017 resulted in no change to the providers or the routes. From 2019 the Ministry of Education (MOE) has taken over the control and organisation and tendering of all bus routes in NZ. 


Schools have no control over bus routes or conveyancing. Students who live further than 3.2km from the school and who live inside the Transport Entitlement Zone (TEZ) may get a bus to school providing there is a route close by. Sometime parents may need to take children to the nearest route to catch the bus.


Students who choose Tapanui School but live outside the TEZ must get permission from the closest school before transport can take place. Ritchies usually charge students who travel from outside the TEZ.
