Room 4
Miss Carters teachers Year 3-5 students in Room 4.
Check out some of the student learning when Miss Waples was here in 2011.
Science Week we have been learning that science is FUN!!! We have been doing lots of amazingly cool experiments. We have learnt that you must follow the instructions exactly as they tell you, or else you might stuff up (like Miss Waples did).
We have seen Tea Bags float up into the air by setting them on fire; coke fizz up because of mentos (there are lots of little dimples on the surface of the mentos that create bubbles); candles suck water up into a jar (because it used up all the oxygen); and eggs get sucked into a jar and then spewed out again.
It has been a really cool week. Science really can be fun!!!
Here's some photos of our week for you to enjoy as well.
We learnt how to OBSERVE and HYPOTHESIZE (which means to predict how or why something happened the way it did).
Term 1 2011

In Room 4 the Year 5's went on camp. First we went Gold Panning at the Queenstown Gold Mine. Also we walked through the Chinese Village and I saw an old Mine Shaft. We also went on the Earnslaw over to Walter Peak Station. Gibston Valley Winery was also really interesting because we went inside the wine cave and saw all of the wine in barrells.
